Hope everyone’s enjoying this last week of September—yes, October is next week. This year has flown by so quickly, so many exciting things happening all around! It seems as though everything’s always on full volume and I’m always on the go! So many people to see and so many things to do—the difficult life of a fashionista!
While I am always all over town, working with a packed schedule, I like to put away some time for myself. I always set aside some time to practice those healthy habits! This week I want to talk about jump-starting your health and fitness routine. It’s super easy to get sucked into the good old 9-5, to and from the office. Sometimes we feel like there’s just not enough time in the day! Trust me, I feel the same. However, I find that allocating a small portion of time each day, or every few days, is really effective. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes, going outside or doing a little jog on the treadmill will make ALL the difference. Lookin good and feelin good!
The whole health and fitness topic is so daunting, I think. There’s so many different ways to go, so many options! It’s all about the basics, though. That bikini bod is not as unattainable as you think, in fact; it’s fairly simple once you set your mind to it! By making a few changes to your lifestyle, you’ll definitely see improvements in all aspects of your life!
First things first, change your mind. Realize that you have the ability to make any changes you wish to make. Decide that it’s something you want to commit to, and tell yourself that you can do it! It’s all in the head, remember! Set some goals, mark them down, and give yourself a time frame to complete them. Once you put it in words, you’re more likely to stick to it!
Go shopping! Not that kind of shopping, unfortunately. Head to the grocery store, and spend some time picking out some good food that will give you a well-rounded diet. Make room in the cart for some fruits and veggies, some whole grains, maybe some yogurts and some salmon! Even take to Pinterest before you head out, and make note of a few healthy—and yummy—recipes you’d like to make. You don’t have to eat lettuce every meal of the day—yuck.
Start moving! Like I said, get outside, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. The American Heart Association recommends getting about half an hour of exercise on most days, and that can just mean some walking! If you’re looking to burn fat, try some swimming, or some zumba! Exercise doesn’t have to be a dreadful treacherous task. Blast some tunes, make it fun, and it’ll be over before you know it!
Check your perspective. Give yourself a break. Take some time to relax from work, from the crazy week you’ve had. Starting a new lifestyle can be stressful, so it’s important to take that time to recoup and get your thoughts together. Remember to BREATH.
Get some shut-eye. That’s right, sleep a little more—WOO! No complaints here! It’s important to get that rest in, especially when you’re starting to exercise. You’re body needs time a time-out from all the energy spending!
Don’t give up! When you set your mind to something, anything is possible, as cliché as it sounds. It all starts with you. Set those goals and just keep moving forward. Make a healthy lifestyle a habit, and it will become the new normal. Like Drake said, “started from the bottom now we here.”
So there you have it, a few steps to kick-start your healthy lifestyle! I’m no fitness expert, or professional dietician, but I’ve witnessed it all first hand! Trust me when I say it’s a difficult change to make, but if it’s something you want to do, you will do it. Here’s to a long and healthy life!
Till next time,
